How did you meet?
My husband & I met during our freshman year of college, but we didn’t start dating until our sophomore year. We were just friends for the first year and I love that this was how we began. I said it in my vows, “I don’t just love you, I like you.” We’re absolute best friends and soulmates. We’ve been together for 10 years this year!
How was the proposal?
The proposal was everything I could have hoped for and more. He proposed on our 8-year anniversary at our favorite winery, Grassini in Santa Ynez. We were walking down to the pond picnic area when he had us stop on the dock where there was a circle of flowers. When he got down on one knee I was shaking and I couldn’t believe it – I accidentally screamed NO in a shocked and excited way… then quickly said YES! Our best friends then popped out and I cried even more. It was such a special day.
Where was the wedding?
We had our wedding at Acre in San José del Cabo! This area is so special to us as we’ve been visiting every year for the past 10 years and now stay at Acre each February. It was the first and only venue we truly considered. It was meant to be!
Tell us about your wedding day!
It may be typical to hear, but our wedding was the best day of my life and truly was everything I could have hoped for. I felt so calm from the time I woke up until the end of the night. The power even went out on the whole property while we were getting ready and I was somehow unfazed and knew everything was going to be fine (it came back on 30 minutes later). Everyone was so happy and so excited to be celebrating with us. Every moment felt so magical and filled with such genuine joy. We wanted our wedding to truly reflect who we are and make it fun, from kicking it off with welcome drinks as guests arrived for the ceremony to being super selective on music and creating the perfect atmosphere. We heard our guests were even dancing to the ceremony’s arrival music! I wish we could relive it all at least one more time.
What was the inspiration behind the design and was the color theme of your wedding?
I wanted our wedding to feel really dreamy and romantic while fitting into our surroundings. Our color theme was easy as it was exactly how I like everything to be decor-wise – beige, white, blush, & gold accents. We had lots of candles and just made the environment feel really warm and inviting. I absolutely loved it and our vendors did an amazing job. They brought my vision to life!
Why did you choose to wear Liz Martinez on your wedding day and why did you choose this specific dress?
I went to two other bridal boutiques before visiting En Blanc where I was able to see Liz Martinez gowns in person. When I saw these gowns, they blew everything else I had seen out of the water. The attention to detail and romantic/dreamy style of them. They were all stunning and I tried on multiple until I put Allison on and knew it was the one. Not only did I feel like I was wearing the most beautiful dress, but I felt myself in it. It was so me and I quickly started crying. My dress made me feel beyond beautiful. I felt elegant and the most elevated version of myself. I felt like a true bride, it was so special.
