How did you meet?
Our first date was breakfast at 8 o’clock in the morning in New York City, spring of 2017.
How was the proposal?
He proposed at home with just us and our dog. That evening he surprised me (again) with a fabulous boat party with our immediate family.
Tell us about your wedding day
We got married at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami. Our wedding day, and weekend, exceeded our dreams. It was pure magic. We chose to have a smaller number of guests and keep it very intimate. My husband and I always said the true importance is between us, and the wedding is to celebrate our love with the most important people to us. We spent the night prior and morning of together, soaking up all the feelings and sharing them with one another which was so special. When we were under the chuppah it felt like just the two of us, it was magical. We had the wedding on Thursday, Shabbat with family and closest friends on Friday, then a boat day on Saturday. We are so happy we chose to do it that way, it was a spectacular weekend filled with an enormity of palpable love and joy.
What was the inspiration behind the design and the colour theme of your wedding?
We focused on raw, natural materials such as wood, florals, neutrals, gray/blue accents, and emphasis on the details and lighting. Romantic and organic. Vizcaya is a magnificent historical venue on the water which encompasses 18th century Italian and French architecture, it was important to us to have everything blend naturally and compliment the atmosphere. We didn’t want anything over the top. Our planner, Bianca Blagg, nailed every aspect and having our wedding at the best venue in Florida definitely helped!
Why did you choose to wear Liz Martinez on your special day?
I knew I didn’t want a dress or designer that I had seen before. I was looking online and came across a photograph of a divine wedding dress which had no information at all, but I fell in love. It was the first wedding dress I ever screen shot and saved. After research, I discovered the designer was Liz Martinez and at the time there were no trunk shows and no retail outlets for me to purchase her work. I saved the dress and intended to find something similar, it was my dream dress. My mum and I flew to New York and England, where I tried on plenty of dresses from different designers yet none of them felt right. When I arrived back home in Miami I noticed a new bridal boutique had just opened and their first trunk show was Liz Martinez…I couldn’t believe it. When I went to the trunk show I found the dress to be even more breathtaking in person, pure elegance. The intricate delicacy of the hand beading that encased the entire upper body spoke to my love of detail and handicraft, and I adored the simplistic femininity which had a strong resemblance to classic old Hollywood glamour. The material was simply ethereal. The way it lay on my body felt like it was made for me. Liz was actually there and pinned my dress on me and gave the stamp of approval. It’s a true piece of art that I will forever adore.
