Where did you decide to celebrate you special day?

Our wedding took place in Cabo, Mexico at a magical venue called Acre. Mexico is one of our favorite places to travel together as a couple and we wanted to be able to share the country’s beauty with our loved ones. We visited Acre for the first time in 2020 for my birthday and thanksgiving and we joked about getting married there one day. It’s funny how that came true!

How was your wedding day?

Our wedding day was so perfect. From the start of the day, everything just felt calm and light. I was worried the day would rush and feel stressful but it was quite the opposite! We were so overwhelmed by the love and joy we experienced on our wedding day. My husband and I love bringing people together and that day was a testament to that— we looked around at one point during dinner and felt the electricity of our friends and family far and wide uniting over their love for us. I’ve never felt so grateful. The wedding venue is set in the lush jungle tucked away in the San Jose side of Cabo. Picture mango trees everywhere, beautiful cactus and plants everywhere, peacocks walking around. It was breathtaking and beyond my wildest dreams. We surprised our wedding guests with a 9-piece mariachi band. When in Mexico!

What was the inspiration behind the design and colour theme of the wedding?

We wanted the wedding design to feel fresh and calm and because the venue was so lush and showered in greenery, we merely wanted to complement its beauty so we focused on a theme centered organic. We also wanted to pay homage to Mexico so we featured things like terracota name cards, sand, and handmade Clay shot glasses full of local mezcal for our seating chart. We utilized 100% recyclable paper for all of our menus, table numbers, signs and beyond— we worked with a company that planted trees in return of our purchase! We utilized neutral colors but lush pink was my accent color so it was a no brained when I tried Allison on in this hue!

How did you choose your Liz Martinez wedding gown?

Oh man, Allison chose me! I tried on many dresses and was searching for something that stood out but wasn’t classic bridal look. I also wanted to wear something that allowed me to own the curves of my body, naturally I gravitated towards a corset top and something fitted on the waist. I happened to pop into En Blanc in LA during a Liz Martinez trunk show, with actually no intentions of shopping her dresses! I described what I was looking for and the woman assisting me plucked Allison without me seeing the dress. She surprised me with it and when I looked in the mirror, it was game over. This was what I had been searching for! It was like nothing I’d seen or tried on before and I exuded a new sense of confidence immediately. The Liz Martinez team was there (including Liz herself) and they helped me style Allison!

How did the dress make you feel?

I have never felt so beautifully radiant in a dress before in my life. If I had to put one word on it, it would be goddess. I felt like a goddess in my dress. I felt strong and sexy and beautiful. The dress is so unique that it also encourages you to feel creatively standout. I STILL think about wearing her all the time!
