How did you meet?

It was a true millennial love story. Having been in each others circles for many years and having never met we followed each other on Instagram. After posting a photo, I sparked his interest with him sliding into the DM’s.

How was the proposal?

On my birthday, Evan had a soccer game (of course this took priority) so he had planned an entire day full of surprises on the Saturday to celebrate. He had booked different things into my calendar (surprise 1/2/3) with no explanation attached. Evan had organised a car for the weekend and therefore I assumed we would be going away. We got up on Saturday morning fairly early and started our day. Getting in the car, I still had no idea where we were going.  Driving around, I am completely lost until we pull into the car park of Crown. We walked through crown and out to the exhibition centre where the lego convention was happening. This was my first surprised. During lockdown we had watched lego masters and completed many lego challenges so this was super cute and summed us up. From here we went for a shop and light lunch at South Wharf DFO before heading back to Crown to go to our next destination. We pull out of Crown, drive two minutes and pull into the Langham. This is where we would be staying tonight. We get in the lift and Evan pushes the top level which reads suites. I burst into tears as I don’t know what I have done to deserve all of this for my 26th birthday. We get up to the most beautiful room that overlooked flinders street station and I couldn’t have felt more special.

Evan said i had an hr to get ready before we leave for dinner. I did have to wash my hair, dry it, and put make up on but no worries, Challenge accepted. Ready for dinner, I am loving how we look and just wanted to take photos in the lobby. We get in the lift and the doors open at the spa level, I’m confused and ask him what we are doing, he replies ‘ drinks at the pool deck’. Me none the wise goes ahead. As he opens the door and ushers me out to the pool deck I’m looking around all confused as to why there are no lights on and why there are no people or a bar. Before I have the chance to ask him, he begins his speech and my butterflies begin. He goes on to tell me how much I mean to him and how much he loves me as we continue to walk to the edge of the deck where he has set up a love heart of roses and tea lights. As we step on to the grass, tears rolling down my face he dropped down to one knee and asked me to marry him. I remember saying ‘yes yes yes’. I just couldn’t believe the love of my life asked me to marry him. He had organised a photographer to capture the moment and of course i made the most of it and got every photo i could to ensure i remembered every aspect of the magical moment.

Just when I thought he was done with surprising me and we were just going to dinner, I was wrong. We walked to crown post proposal where he had organised our families to surprise me to celebrate the moment. He even organised to fly my sister down from Queensland to be there. We enjoyed dinner at the conservatory all together. After dinner, we went back to the hotel where he had another surprise organised. While we were gone the hotel put tea lights and rose petals all over our room.

Tell us about your wedding day

We had a traditional but modern romantic wedding.
My husband is Cretan and I am Australian. The week leading up to our wedding we had many events from a rehearsal dinner to a pre wedding Cretan celebration which involved food, dancing, and Cretan music. Following this event we prepared for our wedding on Saturday 14.1.23.
We had a traditional Cretan ceremony at our family church Axion Estin Monastery in Northcote. Following this ceremony we parted ways again before we changed outfits and headed to ceremony two at Carlton gardens in front of the exhibition building. It was spectacular. The weather was perfect, the flowers were perfect, we couldn’t fault a thing. This ceremony was a reflection of our love and personalities as a couple. We said our personal vows to one another and exchanged rings in front of all of our guests (350).
Our reception was help at the State Library of Victoria. Pre dinner drinks were held in the breathtaking Latrobe Reading room amongst the heritage tables, and books. We had sally Cooper to perform a show stopping set kick starting our evening. Our sit down dinner was held in the Ian Potters Queen hall. The team at Showtime events, Hailey Paige flowers, Amica events, Kris Wason and Michelle Cedro our MC were some of the spectacular people/vendors that helped pull together our vision and make our night truly something magical. Throughout our night we had a mix of Cretan dancing which was a key feature and highlight of everyone’s night.
What was the inspiration behind the design and was the colour theme of your wedding?
When planning our wedding we wanted it to reflect the couple we are, the values we have and the traditions our families hold. We wanted an elegant, romantic and dreamy wedding with lots of flowers and candles. Our colours were blush pink, white and rose gold.
Tell us about the dress you chose

When searching for the dress of my dreams I knew I wanted something unique, something that made me feel beautiful and something that felt dreamy and romantic. Upon booking an appointment at The Ivory Room I went in with an open mind willing to try different styles and designers. It was when my bridal party and I got to choose dresses that we quickly realised we all had a love for the Liz Martinez dresses. The moment I put on my dream dress I was in love. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind this is the dress I’d marry my husband in. My dress made me feel beautiful and this is all I could’ve have wanted.
